Gain more control and flexibility of client data with custom contact fields and contact segments, bill more efficiently by using Quick Collect to override a scheduled payment, and more.
Custom contact fields and client segments
Contact custom fields in Karbon let you capture and organize the unique information that matters most to your firm, giving you complete flexibility to tailor client records to your specific needs. This new feature will be rolled out in phases over the next week.
Custom fields will also be available as filters in contact segments to help you build custom client lists to deliver more personalized services.
https://karbonhq.wistia.com/medias/8pefqmgh5fIf you’re an admin user, you can create custom fields by going to Settings > Contact Settings > Custom Contact Fields.
For example, if you wish to track each client’s communication preference, you can create a custom field named Communication Preference and add a custom picklist of options to track this custom client data.

Custom contact fields are especially helpful when combined with contact segments, which allows you to build individual client lists based on select custom field data.
For instance, if you created a Communication Preference custom field and applied it to every People contact, you can then build a custom client segment named Email Preference to generate a list of clients who prefer to be contacted only by email.

The combination of custom contact fields and segments provide several benefits:
More flexibility and control over your client data
Improved bulk-action workflow such as bulk-creating client work based on custom segments
More personalized and relevant client communication
Soon, you’ll be able to update custom contact fields in bulk using the Bulk Contact Update File, available for download through All Contacts for admin users.

A ‘Clear’ way to track progress in My Week
Even the smallest change can have a big impact.
In this case, it’s renaming ‘Done’ to ‘Cleared’ in My Week. This simple shift in terminology better reflects how your work and tasks move through Karbon, acknowledging that while something may be off your plate for now, it’s not necessarily finished.
Cleared items will return to ‘This Week’ if they’re reassigned, updated, or reopened—keeping work flowing without anything slipping through the cracks.

Use a secure payment link to collect or save client payment details
You can now generate a secure payment link to directly collect or add saved client payment details.
A new Copy Payment Link option in the Auto-Pay section generates a secure link that can be included in emails or opened directly in a browser so you can add payment details on the client’s behalf (available in most regions—support for entering US bank details is in progress and will be coming soon).
Once saved, future invoices will be paid automatically on their due date. These saved details can also be used with Quick Collect to process payments instantly when needed.
Override a scheduled payment with Quick Collect
Client agreed to pay before the invoice due date? You can now override a scheduled payment and collect it immediately using Quick Collect.
Available from the Invoices > Awaiting Payment list, this update gives billing teams more flexibility and greater control on payment collection.
Save time with smarter time entry search
Logging time is now easier and more accurate with search available in Role and Task Type.
Simply search and log Role and Task Type details for time entries with just a few clicks.
