Does Karbon AI cost extra on top of my Karbon subscription?

Karbon AI is currently available to all Karbon customers at no additional cost. If pricing for AI features is introduced in the future, Karbon will communicate any changes to customers in advance.

Is Karbon AI secure? How is my firm’s data protected?

Security was a core requirement in the design of Karbon AI, not an afterthought. Your firm’s data stays within Karbon. It is never shared externally or used to train AI models. Regional data compliance is also in place, meaning data stays in-region (for example, UK data remains in the UK), which is a regulatory required in some regions.

What AI technology does Karbon use?

Karbon AI is built on the Azure OpenAI Service, which includes enterprise-grade security and responsible AI safeguards. Karbon evaluates and incorporates the latest AI model advancements on an ongoing basis to ensure firms always benefit from the most capable and reliable AI available.

What do I need to access Karbon AI?

You need an active Karbon subscription to use Karbon AI. All features are available across Karbon’s paid plans.

How is Karbon AI different from general-purpose AI tools like ChatGPT?

General-purpose AI tools operate without any knowledge of your firm. Karbon AI is different because it works within the context of your actual practice data — your clients, jobs, team, communication history, billing, and more. This means AI suggestions in Karbon are grounded in real information about your firm, not generic outputs. As your accounting firm’s practice management platform, Karbon holds more relevant operational context than any standalone AI tool, making its AI capabilities significantly more useful for day-to-day accounting work.

Can my firm control which AI features are turned on?

Yes. Karbon AI is enabled for all users in a firm by default, but account administrators can disable AI functionality through firm settings. As Karbon’s Agent Management System develops, firms will also be able to configure individual AI Agent capabilities — turning specific automations on or off to match their workflows and preferences.

Will Karbon use my firm’s data to train its AI models?

No. Karbon does not use your firm’s data to train AI models, and no data is shared with third parties or used to inform any other Karbon customer’s experience.
