Acceptable Use Policy

Scope. This Acceptable Use Policy (“Policy”) applies to customers’ use of all services offered by Karbon.

Changes To This Policy. Karbon may change this Policy by posting an updated version of the Policy at https://.karbonhq.com/acceptable-use-policy and such updates will be effective upon posting.

Violations. All users of Karbon are expected to comply with this Policy. Failure to do so may be considered a material violation of the Terms of Use, and /or any other agreement governing the customer’s use of the Karbon service, and result in suspension or termination of your account. If you have agreed to Karbon Terms of Use on behalf of your organization, then this Policy will apply to all users of the Service under your account (the “End Users”).

No Misuse of the Service. Customers may not, and may not allow any third party, including its users, to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or for promotion of illegal activities;
  • Access or use features of the Service that are not included in their current subscription plan;
  • Impersonate another person through the Service or otherwise misrepresent an affiliation with a person or entity in a manner that does or is intended to mislead, confuse, or deceive others;
  • Publish or post other people’s private or personally identifiable information, such as credit card numbers, street address or Social Security/National Identity numbers, without their express authorization and permission;
  • Send unsolicited communications, promotions advertisements, or spam;
  • Publish or link to malicious content intended to damage or disrupt another user’s browser or computer;
  • Access, tamper with, or use non-public areas of the Service, Karbon computer systems, or the technical delivery systems of Karbon providers;
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of any system or network or breach or circumvent any security or authentication measure;
  • Access or search the Services by any means other than Karbon publicly supported interfaces (for example, “scraping”);
  • Forge any TCP/IP packet header or any part of the header information in any email or posting, or in any way use the Service to send altered, deceptive or false source-identifying information;
  • Interfere with or disrupt the access of any user, host or network, including, without limitation, by sending a virus, overloading, flooding, spamming, mail-bombing the Service, or by scripting the creation of Content in such a manner as to interfere with or create an undue burden on the Service; or
  • Promote or advertise products or services other than your own without appropriate authorization

Content Standards. Customers may not, and may not allow any third party, including its users, to use services to display, store, process, or transmit, or permit use of services to display, store, process, or transmit and information that:

  • May create a risk of harm, loss, or physical or mental injury to any other person or the risk of loss or damage to any property;
  • Violates of any applicable law, any intellectual property rights, or anyone’s right of privacy or publicity;
  • Is defamatory, libellous, threatening, violent, sexual/obscene (excessively profane material or otherwise objectionable material), or that constitutes hate speech; or
  • Contains any information that you do not have a right to make available under law or any contractual or fiduciary duty.
  • Material that infringes or misappropriates a third party’s intellectual property or proprietary rights
  • Advocates for advancing criminal hacking, cracking, or phishing
  • Materially relates to illegal drugs or paraphernalia

Prohibited Actions. Customers may not use a service to, nor allow its users or any third party to use a service to:

  • Generate or facilitate unsolicited commercial email (spam). Such prohibited activity includes, but is not limited to:
  • Imitating or impersonating Karbon, another person or his, her, or its email address, or creating false accounts for the purpose of sending spam
  • Data mining or harvesting any web property (including any External-Facing Service) to find email addresses or other user account information
  • Send unauthorized mail via open, third-party servers
  • Send email to users who have requested to be removed from a mailing list;
  • Send unsolicited emails to significant numbers of email addresses belonging to individuals and/or entities with whom you have no preexisting relationship;
  • Sell to, exchange with, share with, or distribute to a third party personal information, including the email addresses of any person without such person’s knowing and continued consent to such disclosure; or
  • Send communications or email in violation of the CAN-SPAM Act or any other applicable anti- spam law or regulation;
  • Intentionally distribute viruses, worms, trojan horses, defects, corrupted files, hoaxes, or any other items of a deceptive or destructive nature;
  • Conduct or forward multi-level marketing, such as pyramid schemes and the like
  • Transmit material that may be harmful to minors
  • Illegally transmit another party’s intellectual property or other proprietary information without the licensor’s or owner’s permission
  • Impersonate another person, entity, or Karbon (via the use of an email address or otherwise) or otherwise misrepresent yourself, your firm, or the source of any communication
