Reduce the client chase with automatic mobile push notifications, and preview what’s coming soon to engagements and the StanfordTax integration.

Karbon for Clients

Mobile push notifications for client requests

Push notifications are now available in Karbon for Clients, ensuring clients never miss important requests. This feature helps clients take timely action on their tasks while reducing the need for firms to send manual follow-ups.

What’s new:

  • Karbon now sends push notifications through the Karbon for Clients mobile app.

  • Clients are prompted to enable notifications when logging in to Karbon for Clients.

  • Clients receive real-time alerts when new client requests are assigned to them.

  • Notifications can be enabled or disabled at any time within the app.

Future updates will expand notifications to include comments, approvals, eSignatures, shared documents, and invoice reminders.

Learn more about how to configure notifications.

Manage Karbon for Clients access without administrative dependency

Team members with permissions to edit contact details can now also manage Karbon for Clients access directly within the Contacts and Documents sections within Karbon. This includes the ability to:

  • Enable or revoke Karbon for Clients access for individual clients.

  • Send or resend client invitations.

  • View and update client access permissions at the contact level.

By extending this functionality beyond administrators, firms can now manage client access more efficiently and eliminate common rollout bottlenecks.

Triage & Work

Enhancements to templates and progress reports

A new Instances tab is added to work templates, easily showing you every work item created from any template.

There is a new ‘Work Status’ filter in progress reports, allowing you to refine results based on the primary status of your work items. For example, you can filter to only see work that is in the ‘In Progress’ status or the ‘Ready to Start’ status. Or perhaps you want to exclude all work in the ‘Completed’ status.

Engagements

Elevate your client onboarding experience with engagements (early access)

Engagements in Karbon, now available in early access, brings your proposals and engagement letters, client work, invoicing, and payments into one unified experience.

Take an interactive product tour to see engagements in action.

With engagements, you can:

  • Build client-ready proposals and engagement letters quickly with introductions, services, billing schedules and fees, terms, and upfront payment detail collections.

  • Move from client approval to productive work immediately. Once a client signs, their engagement becomes actionable work inside Karbon. Tasks, due dates, roles, assignees, and budgets are all pre-configured, helping your team start delivering immediately without workflow delays.

  • Automate invoicing and payments. Your engagement terms are directly connected with Karbon Billing, ensuring consistency and eliminating double entry. Recurring fixed-fee invoices can be auto-generated, T&M invoices can be created with a single click, and stored client payment details speeds up cash collection.

  • Track complete engagement histories in one place. All engagement details—statuses, signed agreements, work progress, billing history, and payments—are consolidated inside Karbon. This gives your firm clearer visibility, stronger accountability, and a single source of truth for every client relationship.

Engagements is being released in phases to ensure an optimal onboarding experience for you and your clients. If you’d like to gain early access, please join the waitlist and the Karbon team will reach out if your firm is a good fit for the early access program.

If you’ve already signed up for the waitlist, you can join the engagements early access group in Karbon Community to be informed of the latest updates and release timelines.

Karbon Practice Intelligence

Track unbilled and unpaid work with the Aging dashboard

The Aging dashboard combines WIP and AR data to provide a clear view of what’s unbilled, unpaid, and overdue, enabling you to pinpoint bottlenecks, mitigate financial risk, and enhance cash flow control.

How this helps you:

  • Monitor aging WIP to identify and prioritize older time entries and expenses for billing.

  • Analyze aging trends by team or client to highlight where work is stalling.

  • Spot overdue invoices and group clients by Owner, Manager, or Type.

  • Flag clients with unpaid debt where work is still in progress.

In this release, the Aged WIP report will be made available first. The Aged AR report will be coming next.

Integrations & API

Five new integrations have been released to bring your favorite apps closer to Karbon’s ecosystem.

  • AskNicely is a multi-channel survey tool used to collect customer feedback. The AskNicely and Karbon integration automates NPS/CSAT/5-Star survey delivery when work items of a set work type reach a specified status. Survey scores and comments sync back to Karbon timelines and custom fields. This gives teams clear insight into client sentiment and helps identify at-risk clients faster. Learn more in the setup guide.

  • Cognito Forms is a flexible online form builder for capturing prospect information. The Cognito Form and Karbon integration connects client-facing data collection directly to Karbon by prefilling forms, updating contacts automatically, and creating work items from submissions. All form activity is logged in Karbon timelines for complete audit visibility. Learn more in the setup guide.

  • Dext is a widely used automation tool for bookkeeping and client accounting services. The new Dext and Karbon integration introduces a one-way contact sync from Dext to Karbon to keep client data clean and accurate. Learn more in the setup guide.

  • PingAssistant is an AI-powered communication capture tool that records calls, chats, and meeting notes. The PingAssistant and Karbon integration (currently in beta) centralizes client communication history by syncing contacts and pushing transcripts, notes, and chat logs directly to client timelines, while sending action items back as notes or linked work items.  Learn more in the setup guide.

  • SurveySparrow is a multi-channel survey tool used to collect NPS and CSAT feedback. The SurveySparrow and Karbon integration automatically triggers surveys based on work item statuses and brings responses back into Karbon as custom fields and timeline notes. This helps teams track satisfaction trends and respond to feedback quickly. Learn more in the setup guide.
